Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will be launched on 25 October

Xiaomi has finally made an official announcement saying that Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will be launched on 25 October at an event in Beijing. While they confirmed the dual edge display, all the other specifications suggested by the leaks remain as tentative. There were lots of speculations, especially about the price of Xiaomi Mi 2.

Though some leaks claimed that the smartphone would be highly priced, other rumors confirm that it will be reasonably priced. Now the most recent leak suggests that the Mi 2 will be priced at $590 (Rs. 39,500). Still, this is the highest price ever associated with a Xiaomi smartphone. Just to refresh, the last leak claimed that the 4GB variant will come with a price tag of CNY 2,799 (roughly Rs. 27,800) and 6GB RAM variant will be priced at CNY 2,999 (roughly Rs. 29,800).

In terms of the specifications, the Xioami Mi Note 2 is expected to sport a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display along with Force Touch pressure sensitivity. The handset is said to be powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 821 SoC, and feature a dual camera setup at the back. There are two sensors expected on the handset- one with 23-megapixel Sony IMX318 and another 12-megapixel Sony IMX378. There could be an 8-megapixel sensor on the front for selfies.

The Mi Note 2 is expected to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based MIUI 8, and support dual-SIM. The smartphone packs a 4100mAh battery coupled with Quick Charge 3.0 technology, and also support ultrasonic fingerprint scanner housed under the glass. For connectivity Xiaomi Mi Note 2 offers 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4/5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, MU-MIMO, NFC, and USB Type-C.

A leak also claims that Mi Note 2 could have an iris scanner. However, we will have to wait for the official launch event to know for sure what this phone is actually offering us.
