World’s First Robotic Smartphone Unveiled in Japan

The World’s first robotic, RoBoHon smartphone has made a debut in Japan on 26th May 2016 making the exceptionally different gadget smartphone worldwide. The incredible robotic smartphone is a pocket-friendly, human-shaped walking and dancing gizmo which does many possible human tricks.

The RoBoHon is developed by the Sharp Company and Roboticist Tomotaka Takahashi, an inventor and discoverer of the first robot astronaut ‘Kirobo’.

The sharp company brags about RoBoHon and says it is a “phone you have never seen before… a phone in human shape.”

The RoBoHon handset can unbelievably make calls, answer calls, check emails, will reply to messages when the user is busy. And also, the device can take photos and after that, it will project it on the wall for a big view. It will also play the role of personal assistant as reminding the users about events they marked in a diary.

Coming to RoBoHon specs, it features 8MP camera and sports a 2-inch QVGA display screen with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. On the projector front, the robot will give a view capacity of 1,280 x 720 pixels. RoBoHon is powered by 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, clubbed with 2GB of RAM.

The RoBoHon runs on Android Lollipop operating system along with the 1700mAh battery capacity giving continuous talk time around 410 minutes and standby time up to 220 hours if connected to 3G. As far as the dimensions are concerned, the RoBoHon measures 19.5 cm and weighs 390 grams.

The basic functions performed by the RoBoHon are Calls, messages, search, camera, apps, projector, face recognition, voice recognition, walking, standing up, etc. The Android feature also offers a various range of applications based on the conversation. Accessories like Desktop Holder, AC adapter, and micro-USB cable are available with the purchase of RoBoHon. On price strategy, the robotics phone costs £1,200 (approx Rs. 1.2 Lakhs) making a very expensive phone.

An Osaka-based company Shark is focusing on gaining the market share and on becoming the leader in this type of mobile phones. For this, it is producing 5000 robots per month.

Additionally, Sharp Company has opened the RoBoHon Café in Tokyo to the public so that the visitors can test the smartphone. The testing is open until Tuesday, 7th June.
