BlackBerry DTEK50 Android Smartphone Launched

BlackBerry unveiled its second Android-based smartphone on Tuesday. BlackBerry DTEK50 phone is a combination of Alphobet Inc’s software and broad app catalog along with the security and productive features of the Canadian company. BlackBerry DTEK50 Android Smartphone Launched at an affordable price.

The smartphone prime is expecting that this new smartphone will have a greater sell than the Priv, its first Android-based smartphone. According to John Chen, Chief Executive of the company the primary reason Priv suffered was because of its elevated price.

The 5.2-inch all touch DTEK50 is available in BlackBerry online shop on pre-order in the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and The Netherlands for $299 (Rs. 20,000 approx.). It is expected to commence shipping the handset on August 8.

According to an analyst John Jackson at International Data Corp the device is an excellent amalgamation of proposition and price end for the companies.

Priv, launched in November last year which has a slide out keyboard and was priced at $699 (Rs.47000 approx.) didn’t sell in the market as the company expected main reason being its high pricing. The company reduced its price in April.

The company claims DTEK50 to be “the world’s most secure Android smartphone.” BlackBerry stated that the device would aware the users if someone is remotely accessing its camera or microphone.

As of now the company has not proclaimed any distribution agreement with US delivery services and the devices are mostly expected to come via Best Buy Co, Amazon.com, and BlackBerry’s online store.

Coming to the specifications of BlackBerry DTEK50, it features a 5.20-inch (1080*1920 pixels). The phone is supported by 1.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor along with 3GB RAM. The phone offers a 16GB inbuilt storage that can be further expanded up to 2000GB through a microSD card. On the camera front,  the DTEK50 has a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The smartphone comes with a 2610mAh nonremovable battery. Its dimensions are measured at 147.00*72.50*7.40, and it weighs 135 grams. It is a single SIM (micro-SIM) handset. For connectivity, it has Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, FM, 4G. Sensor options include Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer, and Gyroscope.
