97 percent of the smartphones sold in India are Android devices

The Senior Analyst , Rajeev Nair, said that overall smartphone deliveries in India had grown a well 19 percent per year from 25.8 million units in 2015 Q2 to 30.7 million in 2016 Q2. India is ranked at third place in world’s smartphone market after China and the US. India is developing at a healthy pace because of the low access rates of smartphones, more disposable income to the middle class, and fierce competition among the leading retailers, vendor, and operators. 97 percent of the smartphones sold in India are Android devices

Executive Director at Strategy Analyst further added that 29.8 million shipments of Android in Q2 2015, to growing a remarkable 28 percent per year from Q2 2015 23.2 million. Android preserves its first position in the country with an impressive 97 percent OS share for the current quarter which is 7 percent higher than the previous year. With its profound collection of hardware associates, widespread distribution channel, and an extensive range of economic apps such as Gmail, it is dominating the Indian market and currently looks unbeatable.

The Director at Strategy Analyst, Woody Oh, said that Apple iOs saw a significant fall of 35 percent yearly and deliver 0.8 million smartphones in the country in 2016 Q2. Market share of Apple’s smartphone has reached to 2 percent in India from 4 percent last year. To improve their place in the market the company will have to cut down their iPhone prices to a decent level, draw more operator financial backings and increase its retail availability from Apple stores and online directs.
