Yu Yureka and Yu Yureka Plus Reviews, Features, Specs

Micromax has always been a trusted name in the field of smartphones and other domestic gadgets. It has spent quite a lot of time in providing budget phones with good quality. This time too, Micromax has given a good start in producing high-end featured phone within budget with the launch of Yu Yureka and Yu Yureka Plus. The company is now all set to have a bold move towards the building of high-quality smartphones with strong individual identities and premium attributes. Well! This phone is expected to have a good go with young generation tech-savvy people who are targeting to buy a high-end phone within their budget.

The value for money has always been a prime issue for Micromax, but to some extent, it has failed a bit to stand up to the expectations of gadget freaks with its performance, software quality and bulky size. But this time, people are looking forward to its new venture with Yu Tele-ventures, a subsidiary company to be a great success and Yes! The company too is claiming to have its products as one of the best in the market. Since the expectations are high this time let’s see whether Micromax will stand up to the expectations or not.

Yu Yureka and Yu Yureka Plus – Best Smartphone under price 9k

Design and Look: If we talk about design and look then this new avatar of Micromax doesn’t seem to be Micromax at all. That massive size has all gone, and a new stylish look has crept in into Yu Yureka and Yu Yureka Plus. It is not that slim or light, but it surely seems to be way too better constructed that its earlier smartphones. The rear appears to have a textured ‘moonstone grey’ with a sandpapery finish, but it is quite smooth to touch in real.

The camera and the flash have been shifted to one of the top corners creating space for the blue YU logo at the centre. Appearance wise it seems to resemble a lot to Xiomi Redmi. The look of both the phones seems to be same with not even a single change in it. The difference only lies in the fact that Yureka Plus has a visibly sharper FULL HD screen with better resolution at an added amount of Rs. 1000.

Touch and Display: The YU Yureka smartphone has a touchscreen of 5.5” with a screen resolution of 720×1280 pixels at a PPI of 267 pixels per inch. A resolution of 720p x 1280p was appreciated a lot by the reviewers at the time when it was launched, that was back in December 2014, but a year later YU Yureka was launched to fight the spec war heating up with the 1080px1920p screen. It has got the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 as its screen protector. This phone has brighter and detailed display of colors which can be considered good in both bright as well as dim light.

Software: YU’s objective of getting a premium quality smartphone for their tech-savvy budget conscious buyers is all possible due to its exclusive tie-up with Cyanogen Inc. – a well-known name in the world of Android, to preload Cyanogen 11. Yureka and Yureka Plus both has an internal storage of 16GB which can be further enhanced up to 32GB by using a micro SD card. Both of them have a 2GB RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 as its powered processor. The Android Version of Yureka uses Cyanogen 11 OS, which has been upgraded to Cyanogen 12 in YU Yureka Plus. 4G compatibility and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity has remained the same in both. Well! The software cannot be told as too impressive, but it has a quick and efficient system for a price of Rs.10,000.

Camera: The primary camera of both the phones is 13MP, and the front one is 5MP, which delivers sharper photos. Apart from the OS, even the camera’s specification has changed while changing from Yureka to Yureka Plus. While Yureka used the earlier Sony IMX135 sensors, Yureka Plus uses IMX214 sensors which bring about a decent switch to all of the camera limitations of YU Yureka. The new sensor adds a lot of perks for the photographers as the detailing in the pictures is next to perfect. Its capability of handling low-light condition has been appreciated by many. The pictures it delivers needs to be zoomed to a vast extent to find out the flaws. Video too is quite good as is the close up shots.

Battery life: Both the phones have a removable Li-Po 2500mAh battery with a standby of 210 hours and a talk-time of 8 hours. The battery life cannot be considered as outstanding but as told earlier it is good for a price of below Rs.10,000. The battery supports quite a good amount of daily work over the phone like the usual internet browsing, it also supports gaming and music for an hour or two along with the usual photo shoots and messaging. It has kept a striking balance between cost and technology.

Phone accessories: Unboxing the YU Yureka and YU Yureka Plus you will be contented to see goodies inside it. Though it would be like the usual unboxing, but these goodies are a good set of perks for this price. The box contains a handset, a charger, a USB cable and documentation.

DO U YU Yureka???

Suggestions: This phone is a perfect example of how to keep a balance between the cost and the features. It is an excellent example of how the technology can be utilized in real terms with the price. This phone has lived up to the expectations of the smartphone lovers. The camera quality and the battery life, plus the Cyanogen OS all coming at a mouth-watering price of Rs.8999 and Rs.9999 respectively for YU Yureka and Yureka Plus cannot be ignored easily. The pros and cons of this gadget can be listed below-

PROS– Use of Cyanogen, which is highly customizable, improved display, outstanding camera, great performance and most importantly the value for money which every Micromax phone lives up to.

CONS– Nothing significant can be termed as according to the price.

YU Yureka and its successor Yureka Plus has indeed left a splendid impression upon the Tech market. This impression is not going to fade away that easily and for those who want to buy this lovely gadget I would just suggest just run and grab it!
