Tablet shipment in India witnessed a growth of 7.8 percent in the third quarter

According to a recent report, tablet shipment in India witnessed a growth of 7.8 percent in the third quarter, thanks to the preparation of the festive season.

 International Data Corporation revealed that Datawind continues to be on top of the tablet market with 26.1 percent share with its growing volume of 73 percent over last year.

Following Datawind is Samsung with 26.2 percent growth, then comes iBall with its shipment increasing slightly by 2.9 percent successively in the third quarter of 2016.

While the iBall’s shipment showed a drop of 7.5 percent year-on-year, it leads the 4G shipment of tablet among the Indian sellers.

IDC further revealed that Lenovo comes at fourth place with 15.5 percent consecutive growth, and Micromax holds on to its top fifth position, but its shipment remained flat over the previous quarter and 39 percent year-on-year decline. Further the company’s focus has shifted from Detachable to entry-level clamshell notebook series has caused in negligible attendance in the detachable lineup in the recent quarters.

The total tablet shipment comprises slate and detachable clocked 1.06 million in the third quarter, staying put over the same period last year.

Karthik J., Senior Market, IDC India, stated that commercial section is maintaining its growth at a healthy rate accounting over one-fifth of total tablet shipment in the third quarter of 2016 with major contributors such as government, large enterprise, and education sectors.

The commercial segment also put into the greater part detachable shipments in the third quarter pushing the volume of the product category to almost double over the previous quarter.

IDC forecasts that tablet shipments will decline sequentially in the fourth quarter of 2016 shedding from the third quarter spike. Consequently, total shipment of the current year will marginally decline over the previous year. Detachable devices are tipped to prolong with healthy shipment in the last quarter of 2016 to report little over 5 percent of total tablet shipment in the current year as compared to 2.7 percent the previous year.
