IT hardware and mobility device developing company, RDP, on Wednesday, launched its RDP ThinBook-an ultra thin laptop just for Rs. 9,999. RDP ThinBook launched – India’s Cheapest 14.1 inches laptop.

This ultra slim 14.1-inch laptop runs on Windows 10 Home, and it is alleged to be the country’s most reasonably priced laptop in its section.

Build up with combined strategy of network player Microsoft and Intel; the company said that the ThinBook aspires to concentrate on the needs of the entry-level community who are looking for a reasonable but tough product.

The new ThinBook weighs around  1.4kg. The device is powered by an Intel Atom x5-z8300 Soc with 4 cores, 2 threads, clocked at 1044GHz, 1.84GHz Turbo clock and 2MB cache. The device features a RAM of 2GB and has an internal storage of 32GB which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. It sports a 14.1-inh full HD screen with 1366 * 768 pixels resolution and an LED-backlit display. It comes with a battery of 10000mAh Li-Polymer which the company claims can convey up to 8.5 hours of backup.

Minister of Telangana Information Technology K.T. Rama Rao, who unveiled this product, has given all his support to the company for its preparation to design the product in Telangana in quarter three to four.

Other notable guests in the event included Priyadarshi Mohapatra, Country General Manager, Consumer Channel Group, Microsoft India, and Director of consumption sales, Intel South Asia, Anand Ramamoorthy.

The founder and managing director of RDP Workstation Pvt. Ltd., Vikram Redlapalli stated that the company plans to distribute 30,000 to 40,000 laptops this financial year.

He also added that even with the low cost, the features of the ThinBook had not been negotiated. The device can be used for all the basic and beyond basic purposes.

The company is preparing to roll out a more robust version of the ThinBook, which was drawn in Hyderabad but produced in Taiwan

The Company claims to bring the cost further down by making the product in Telangana employing incentives provided by the state.

RDP has so far put in $7-8 million and had revenue of $4 in the last financial year.
